I work for the most aggressive fire department compared to my surrounding Fire Departments in the area. I train every day and work with excellent firemen and equipment. I am fortunate enough to work through out the CITY and am able to work in various challenging assignments. The Dept by next year wll have almost 50% with less than 5 years on the job. With that in mind I am still amazed at the high caliber and AGGRESSIVE individuals that we are hiring. What I enjoy the most is having mutual aid for various cities that call us for help to put their fire out or assist in a rescue with them. I give my dept the higest rating and knew I work for the BEST FD while on probation. An apartment fire in another city that boarder us. We were first on scene the other FD pulled up looked and went back to quarters. If that does not tell you that you work for cream of the crop what does ? TRAIN AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT BECAUSE IT DOES - LAFD MOTO PS When did I get a new fire chief thats a female Chief Douglas Berry is a MALE as of 11/23/2007 ?

Advice for prospective applicants:

We are hiring 150 recruit firefighters and will continue at this time of hiring like this for the next 5 years ( 5 classes of 30 per year)

The men and women of the LAFD are constantly proving their dependability as a life-saving force. Despite a rough year with the massive wildfires this year, the LAFD continues to be on at the top of their game. They also promote the fact that they have a female Fire Chief.
