About Me:
Ignore the location field above; Fire Link makes no allowance for non-US locations. I'm Lindsay "Roadkill" Gorrie, volunteer firefighter from the Hawkesbury District of New South Wales, Australia. I am a Senior Deputy Captain, a.k.a. 1st Liutenant, in a volunteer brigade with about 50 members. I am married with 3 young adult children. The whole family are firefighters, with my wife and eldest son holding Deputy Captain positions. My wife and younger son are also an tanker (appliance) drivers. We are all mad. I am now (2008/10/25) a Grandfather!

    Spent today (Sunday) assessing trainee Crew Leaders in their Village Firefighting (small structural / vehicular / hazardous materials) firefighting operations. A long day but had a great time. It's always good to take people who have gained some classroom learning and watch them come to the realisation that applying that learning in the field is not so easy. It's normally quite a wake up call for them. The ones who don't come to that realisation usually wash out...

    Hey! Thanks for the add. Good to meet you. Weather? What weather. All we have seen since July is sun and heat! HAha! We are in a severe drought right now. Rain is a VERY welcome sight. We are 6 inches below defisate and wildfires and field fires are kicking our butt! Haha! It was certainly nice talkin to ya. Take care. Keep in touch!

    thanks for the add,so we can really consider you an aussie then!!!! as for me i'm what you can call a citizen of the world. i left home at 19 to join up and have been lucky enough to have travelled all over. i came to the usa 6 years ago and i think this is home now. i'll take my wife(ladyfirefighter08) back to england to visit but thats it. life has come full circle i suppose,i left home to get away from a small farming community and i;ve finished up back in a small farming community, oh the irony------again thanks for the add and you take care and stay safe
