As a male ff I have come to know some great firefighters and I was honor to serve with them. Some of them have moved on, some have given up their dreams for one reason or another. But these firefighters will always be in my heart because these firefighters where true great firefighters. Some of them had to give up their dreams not by choice but by pressure of those who still doesn't understand. My heart really goes out to these firefighters because of all the hard work that they had put in, for all the hard training they had to go through to make it, for the lives that they had saved on and off the job, for the lives that these very fine firefighters lives the had touch and I know that they had touch my life. It is hard to believe that we talk about brotherhood of the fire department, how we are suppose to help one another in times of needs and heartachs. But what it really comes down to it some of the fire department are still in the dark ages not all. There are some very fine upstanding fire department that makes the good ones look bad. These firefighters that I am talking about that had to leave the department and to get their feeling destroy by some that could not fully understand why these firefighters had joined the department. It wasn't to prove that they could do the job. It wasn't to prove that they could do the job better. It wasn't to show off. It was just that they wanted to do a job the best that they could, to give back to the community that they had lived in. It was just something that they really wanted to do just like the rest of joined up for. But for some of us we are not put down because we joined. But these firefighters was put down to the point that they was forced to leave which I feel was the very wrong thing to do. We are suppose to be their for every one and if we turn our backs on those people who are willing to give their lives to become firefighters in the first then how can we in our right mind say that we are there for everybody? These firefighters I am talking about are true firefighters these firefighters that I have been proud to serve with are women. Nothing special about them except their hearts was into doing the job the best that they could do and some of them had yet beyond the call of duty and their reward was force off the department. So let us as a group of real firefighters that believes in serving our community not look down on these female firefighters that we do have on our department but to tell them just how good of a job that they are doing and just how proud we are to have on our department. Heres to all the women firefighters GREAT JOB

I feel as a Lt. we male firefighter do not give our female firefighters the respect that they deserve. Remember officers and gentleman that they are out there putting their lives on the line just the same as we are. I am a firm believer give respect to those who deserve it not the ones that think they earn it or they think the whole department should give them the respect they deserve. Remember guys years ago women wasn't allowed on the fire department and when they did join the men would do everything that they could to run the women off. I respect a woman who is willing to give her life for a male partner without questions if it comes down to it. But knock on wood I have never had my partner put her life on the line for me but I am glad to know that if it would come to it she would and I would for her without a moment thought. So please guys respect the women firefighter as they are trying to do their job along with trying to help us. Women do make some pretty damn good firefighter. RESPECT THEM. Heres to all you women firefighters KEEP THE GOOD JOB GOING. do not ring that bell because some guy is making it rough on you hang in there, fight for what is your right and if possible make him ring that bell if he can't cut it with you. GO FIREFIGHTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a firefighter I have learned that we can not be a good leader if we ignore the most valuable access that we have on each of our departments that are the men and women that serves each of our departments. As leaders we shouldn't have to use the words that they serve under us because they don't serve us they work along side of us they serve their community.
