WASHINGTON – A fire in southeast Washington has left one person dead and a firefighter injured.
Firefighters were called to a garden-style apartment complex just before 8 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of 37th Place, Southeast.
D.C. fire department spokesman Alan Etter says they found the body of an adult badly burned in a first-floor apartment. Investigators were not immediately able to determine the person’s gender or identity.
Etter says a firefighter sustained potentially serious burns to his head and ears. The injuries are not life threatening.
