Another Firefighter Down By Heart Attack
USFA
September 05, 2008
Ohio – While on a fire department special detail, Firefighter Greg Northup (age 55) of Gallipolis Fire Department collapsed from an apparent heart attack as he entered the offices of the Gallipolis Daily Tribune. Despite all resuscitative efforts by Gallipolis City Police and Gallia County EMS, Northup succumbed to his injury.
Every year in the United States, about 100 firefighters die in the line of duty, but most aren’t killed by smoke, flames or collapsing buildings. They die from heart attacks.
Fire Fighter Conditioning Plans for Career Fire Fighters and Volunteer Fire Fighters must yield the same results – a Fit Fire Fighter who can handle the weight of his gear, the weight of an injured victim, and the hot working environment. Being unfit should not be an option for any fire fighter with the risks of life on the line.
