With back injuries so very common in EMS, this cot takes the groan out of lifting patients with it's battery operated hydraulic system. Just push the button and the cot can lift up to a 700 lb patient. I think everyone should have one. They are just a little pricy, but worth it when you consider that the average back injury claim costs at least $15K; more if surgery is required.

I believe this is the same model that is used here. It runs on a 24 volt DeWalt battery. Lifting capacity is like 750 lbs I think. The pressure it can exert though is amazing. Supposedly medics have accidentally crushed the fold down step or bumper of the back of the unit if it was pushed in too far when bringing the wheels up to load it in the unit. It is definitely a back saver. Back when I started EMS, we had the old style manual that one person got on each side to lift and load, then we progressed to the better one that you could put one end in and lift and roll it into the unit. These are great. Best thing invented in a while.

Use both types of stryker stretchers. Sturdy and easy to use. Much easier to use the power Stryker for lifting to height with patient on.

This Stryker Power cot is used in several of our local Rescue squads. If you have an issue of lack of staffing on your rigs, or the patient is very large, then this is the cot to use. It unbelivable, after you have used a NON-POWERED cot. I highly recommend it, if you can afford them.

Great cot for raising the patient but does nothing to prevent back injury due to the added weight. When you load the patient in the ambulance you have to hold the full weight of the cot and patient while the carriage raises. With the old manual cots you still have to hold the weight, but once you take the weight off the carriage you release and push and your loaded with no hesitation. Cots are extremely top heavy and not any good on soft ground. Also the added weight makes more back strain to carry up stairs when you have a patient that can't sit in the stair chair. Thank god for firefighters to assist with this Cadillac cot!

After using this one for the past month i can see where it will cut down on the lifting and save peoples backs.
