Excuse me if I'm out of line but isn't this review about the Defender Retractable Visor and not the 1010 Cairns helmet? If it is about the Defender then I know that people would really like it itstead of the ESS goggles that come with the 1010 helmet. The shield is great because it is out of the way but is easily accessable when it is needed. Best safety shield I've ever used.

My department just purchased these helmets. They are great for use with goggles due to not having a big bulky face shield in your way. The built in shield also stays in much better shape for a longer period of time.

the goggles are good for fast use but they lack alittle for long term stuff. They also hurt the nose if the helmet get moved too fast. I still like my regular goggles for life-flights. they do stay cleaner that the ess style goggles

I'm not the biggest fan, it takes a long time to break in the goggles in order to easily pull the goggles down with out cracking the bridge of your noes. Personally I like having the ESS goggles on my helmet rather than the built in goggles that Cairns features with this helmet.

comfortable helmet, adjustable liner. The impact cap, best on the market.

original style which makes it a classic but not good for interior fire fighting
