I have an interview on Tuesday for the Dispatch position for Careplus Ambulance. It's a private company (in fact you can look for the website online) that specializes in ambulance services. I looked at the other posts on here about practicing "multitasking" and all. (In fact I'm fairly good at it when Silver isn't trying to drag me in a bear hug to the floor.) I was wondering if anybody had any advice on what to expect and/or things to know for a Dispatch position. I've applied for quite a bit of FT jobs recently and have been vastly disappointed but I'm excited about this one so any and all advice would be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to land this job!

go in there with confidence...
they are looking for someone that is able to multitask but much more than that they are looking for someone that can make decisions quickly and accuratly...GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the advice. I went in for my interview and I did well. The Dispatcher said he was going to give his higher ups a recomendation for me. He was impressed. He asked me what I would take care of in this situation :

I'm on the phone with somebody who wants to set up an appointment for wheel chair service, an ambulance calls on the two-way, and somebody walks into the office and approaches the front desk. Who do I take care of first?

I'm honestly interested in what answers you guys post before I post what I said in response. He was pleased with me :)

EMS, front desk, appointment. Never keep a unit on the radio waiting. Person in your face is next.

Mmmm good advice I'd say but I asked the dude if the ambulance had an emergency or if they were ok to wait a moment :) I win!

But no, really, he was impressed with me so I hope to get a second interview... I hope I hope!
