My name is James, most call me Jim. I'm a retired Dispatcher. I spent most of my time dealing with Law Enforcement but do have some experience with Fire and EMS. I have been conducting training for the past 20 years and still do training on a Contract basis. I joined 911lifeline and have volunteered to answer Dispatch related questions on FireLink.

I look forward to talking with you all and answering your questions.

Hello Jim. My name is Travis. My career has been nearly opposite yours. I have been doing Fire/EMS response for 17 years and have just gotten into 911 dispatch about a year ago. Talk about a diferent world!!! The learning curve has been steep, but I think I'm doing OK. Welcome to the show.

hi Jim,
I have been a rural area volenteer FF for a little over three years now. I am an electrician too, but I really have become more involved with the whole fire/ems/police thing and would love to become a dispatcher. I live in a pretty rural county and it stays relativily quiet around here but it does have its share of heavy action but nothing like a big city. How can I possibily get a career in this field? What should I do? Thanks
