| Posted 2 months ago A lot of Canadians would as soon forget it. That drives me nuts. Might as well ask my grandfather to forget Pearl Harbor. I plan to get a tattoo at some point down the road...something relatively small but tasteful, maybe on a shoulder or someplace a t-shirt will cover (so nobody bitches at me @ work). In 2001, we were at a memorial here in Toronto, and there was this little asshole (behind a wall of cops that had to protect him from us, of course) waving a blood-soaked American flag...can't believe what some of our countrymen think is appropriate. I asked him if his grandfather would be proud of what he was doing, and reminded him to thank the nice cops, paid for by my tax dollars (as was his welfare cheque) that were standing between me and him. (one of the cops smirked and told me that, if I had charged, he would have "slipped" just as I got to the jackass...wish I'd have known that then...) That little jackass doesn't speak for most of us. Our PM has just send a third BATTALION of Canadian troops "over there" so our money is now where our mouth is. We came down to NYC with a few truckloads of everything from dog kibble to helmets - FDNY and NYPD were AWESOME, we couldn't buy a drink when they saw the Canadian flag on our uniforms, we got a HEAVY discount on the hotel rooms (lucky to find any at all!) and man, I think I cried for a week straight... ...still haven't stopped... |

| Posted 2 months ago Never, never forget the sacrifice our brothers and sisters made that day. I will allways remember the way I felt that morning, I think it's important for us all to remember exactly how we felt as we watched that day, and the weeks after unfold. God bless the families and friends of everyone lost on that day. |

A Fireman's Tribute
Brothers and Sister, when you weep for me Remember that it was meant to be. The house from which I now respond Is over staffed with heroes gone. Men who answered one last bell Did the job and did it well. As fire men we understand That death's a card dealt in our hand. A card we hope we never play But one we hold there anyway. That card is something we ignore As we crawl across a weakened floor. For we know that we're the only prayer For anyone that might be there. So remember as you wipe your tears The joy I know throughout the years. As I did the job I loved to do I pray that thought will see you through |

| Posted 2 months ago We will never forget! The measure of life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation. |

| Posted 2 months ago Even seven years later it still makes me sick to my stomach that someone or better put some group could actually do that. |

| Posted 2 months ago That event sparked me to enlist in the service and also become a firefighter "Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal and took Iwo Jima. Bagdad ain't shit." | Posted 2 months ago This stil stirs a number of emotions in me, from great sorrow to still a feeling like I am needed there. But the bigest feeling I have is to say to my fallin brothers ans sisters. Rest in peace you will not be forgoten for the sacrifice you made that day, and as long as I am alive I will alwas remember what you did that day as well as I will keep reminding the next generations of what happened that fateful day. You will not be forgotten. You will be remembered. As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.

Me too...thought I WANTED to knock his block off. MY grandfather would not have approved, however, and that's what kept me in check... He was a Canadian...there are times that I think, if offered a job in the USA, I'd love to have citizenship. At least you guys know how to love your country, faults and all. |

Courage, Dedication, Tradition, Service, Honor and the most important one I think..... Sacrifice........ "Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal and took Iwo Jima.
