Has anyone had any experience using the online site: http://www.trainingdivision.com/ it was recommended to me by a Fire Marshal locally. Apparently it is all correspondence work with a two week fire ground practicals. Then you just sit for your certification exam. I am considering this as a possibility since I already have a four year degree and need it more for a certification than a career position. Thoughts, ideas? Thanks!

I am thinking about doing this as well.  It only cost I think $250 right now.

I currently have one of my firefighters taking an EMT class on training division.com and he seems to be doing very well.

As for the online firefighter course we send all of our volunteer members that are interested to www.fireacademyonline.com which is an excellent program.

It starts with selfpaced online classes that run for three months. You can do as much or as little each day as you wish as long as all the classes are complete within the three months and then you attend the hands-on section which takes twelve days and on the morning of the thirtenth day you take the state test and Texas is an IFSAC state so your cert. will tranfer if you live outside of Texas.

We use fireacademy online because it is a no BS course presented by no BS instructors. I will say the twelve day hands-on session is very intence and if you go in thinking you can skate through you will get your backside handed to you. The instructors aren't drill instructor they are real firefighters working at the academy as a second job. Fireacademy online is owned and operated by Houston Fire Captain Eric Abbt and firemen that work for or with him. Captain Abbt, Big Mike, Martinez, Blackman and the others are excellent firefighters and instructors and I am glad to know then all.

I don't want this to sound like a comercial but every member (6 as of this post) we have put through the program has pass the TCFP exam on te first try.

I hope this helps.

P.S. If you call or email Captian Abbt, tell him Chief Beaman from Kyle Fire sent you. You, or I for that matter, wont get a discount or anything like that, he may even flick you a little s**t because you said it, but I keep telling him I know everthing and everyone and busting his balls brings me a little smile each morning.
