Posted 6 months ago The South has NASCAR, in NY we race Fire Trucks. It’s called Drill Team. We have been doing this since the Mid 1930's. I posted some pics. Take a look. "B" Rigs are the ones that look like trucks. "C" Rigs are the ones that look like race cars Omnis Cedo Domus |

| Posted 6 months ago Yes, they are rides the boards. Yes, they are racing. The events are: 3 Man Ladder B Ladder C Ladder C Hose B Hose Efficiency Motor Pump Buckets They compete in: 3 man Ladder: 3 men starting on 3 different lines race to the top of the ladder. Class B & C Ladder: 4 men speed down the track, hit the brakes, throw the ladder against the arch while a climber races to hit the top rung. Class B & C Hose: 4 men race towards the hydrant hit the brakes and 2 jump off and hook-up to the hydrant. Meanwhile the other 2 continue on to the target laying hose as they go. They break the hose and attach a nozzle just as the water passes through to hit the target. Efficiency: 8 men with 3 lengths of hose connect them as they run down the track. One end is connected to the hydrant as the others run toward the target until water shoots through the nozzle and hits the target. Motor Pump: Using a class B rig the team stops at the hydrant hooks-up and then the truck pumps water through the nozzle, with several men holding it against the pressure, they hit a small target 150ft down the track. Bucket Brigade: Using collapsible buckets the team rushes to pass buckets up the ladder and fill a barrel with 45 gallons of water. Omnis Cedo Domus |
