Posted 4 months ago Some of the Departments we dispatch for we alpha page them. Cause some of the memebers only have those pagers. After we send out the tone we page them out.

Posted 4 months ago Personally I prefer The Incident Room over IPN. It's completely free with no requirements to send out a certain number of alerts per month in order to not have to pay for their services. There is something that really bothers me about companies that insist people send out alerts promising "dispatcher rewards" that take a very long time to earn. I feel that this causes people to send out a bunch of false alerts to try and get their point total to increase. Eventually as they see their points aren't adding up as quickly as they thought, they get bored and stop sending alerts. Then the next month their account is closed due to inactivity and they have to start all over again. With The Incident Room, if you happen to hear something of interest you can send out an alert to give others a heads up that something is going down. But it's not a requirement to send out an alert if you don't want to. Most people that send them do so because they host an online feed and they want to let people know when there is something interesting that they may want to listen to. As a matter of fact, the feeds that are hosted on Fire Link send out alerts in The Incident Room. It's not uncommon to have a feed with only a few people listening send out an alert, then a few minutes later have 20 or 30 people listening. www.edmontonfireradio.com - Broadcasting live audio from the Edmonton Fire Department

Posted 2 months ago Wow... I had no idea this kind of site existed. My first reaction... it's a little scary. Use properly, I'm sure that this can be a valuable tool. But, it seems to be a way to invite the "looky's" to a scene, and I don't think that's so great.
