Last training was pump ops on the new(old) truck. And of course you get us together with hoses out and it becomes a competition of "who can hold the hose with the highest PSI. We have these balls on sticks and the object is to knock them over using different stream settings and either advancing or retreating... I guess this helps with coordination?

Next training (this SAT) is Wildland recert.

My Voly Department has changed the way we do our training we now have almost 45 persons on staff and our span of control was lost and training was going down hill so we split the drills into three topics Fire/ EMS / and Spec Opps and it is working great for example the fire drill this Wednesday was fire engine opps we practiced setting up a hand line and a mounted master stream using tank water and then you had to do a switch over to hydrant while all that was going on your crew deployed the hose packs which is 400 ft of 3 inch and a gated wye to 200 on each side of 1 3/4 it was good practice for multiple lines and such then our EMS drill was IC and a tour of our local Dispatch Center and what they need in case of a evacuation situation what we could do to assist them while assisting the community and then our Spec Opps was Vehicle stabilization vs. immobilization and then basic extrication. For my career department I taught a cardiac class and then played Cardiac Jeopardy ACLS version. Any help I can offier please Email me and i would love to help

Last night we used hand tools and air rescue tools to tear apart a buick skylark that we are now going to burn as a training. We pulled out the old tools, like the windshield cutter, and we also pulled out the halogen, stuff like that. We weren't allowed to use the air rescue tools until we had all used the hand tools and gotten the hang of them. The whole reason we pulled out the hand tools is because we normally just rely on heavy rescue mutual aid, but forget how volatile hand tools can be when the heavy rescue isn't readily available.

As an organization, we had a PEPP class 2 weeks ago. My team had a "reduce on scene time" training last week. It wasn't just me barking either! It was more along the lines of the AIC doing a good job of directing the call and continually working towards moving to the truck and how to do that.

This weekend I get to take a basic rigging ropes course, and then one weekend a month until august are the rest of them. I'm kind of excited. Except for the fact that i have prom on friday, so I'm going to have absolutely no sleep then go try and learn about ropes.

We did pumper training on our primary mini-pumper 2 weeks ago. How to engage the pump how to get water and how to suction. Less than 5 days after that we had a shed fire which was 2 feet from a propane tank which was 3 1/2 feet from another house. Me and the newest f/f was first on scene (i was IC until our interm chief got there) and saved our first house in over 8 years  but the shed was a toal loss.

We have not had any training in the last two months.  The Chief did tell us that we would be doing Ladder Training and Air Pack Training this month.  I am kind of excited about that.  I am also starting Apparatus-Pump Operator's Course this week too.  So, I am going to be busy, busy, busy!
