I was wondering what "special" operations does your fire dept cover. When I say "special" I mean other operations outside of fire prevention such as HAZMAT, Search and Rescue or Tech. Rescue? I know my dept covers HAZMAT, Search n Rescue, Tech. Rescue, Water Rescue, Swift Water, Dive team, Low angle, High angle. Also for other special operations we cover Honor Guard. That's just some other examples. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

My previous department "Lewis County Fire District #13 - Boistfort Valley" was primarily the standard EMS and Fire Department. However, we had two very large tenders (tankers) that were requested often for mutual aid. 3500 Gallon Pump and Roll, with the other being a 5500 gallon fuel truck converted to haul water. Besides that, our department could basically run any kind of bulldozer, truck, crane, or agricultural equipment to provide assistance. But, we didn't have a specific specialty.

As for my current involvement with Emergency Management, the two departments I serve have everything you could imagine...

Swift Water Rescue, SAR, Haz-Mat, Mobile Command Centers, CERT, Fire Cats, etc... You name it they basically got it.

We're a vol dept in NW Indiana and we have haz-mat, all 7 aspects of technical rescue and we have rope rescue. Fun stuff!
