Use to go to NorthBend State park in WV, alot when going up but now it's exspensive as hell to even camp in a tent there. Also went alot to Canan Valley (by Blackwater falls WV) it was pretty nice over there and quiet.

Well,  if I want to go local I go to Heavenly Acres campground here in good ol' Greene Co. Virginia.  Otherwise,  I go to Hungry Mother State Park in Marion ,  Virginia.  My Dad lives right across the street from the entrance to the park!

Grand Island, Michigan.

It's on Lake Superior across from  Munising, Mi.

It has many ship wrecks to dive. Both shallow at 25' to 150' deep.                                                                                                                                     There are glass bottom boat rides as  well, the store is just a boat  ride away.                                                                                                    Camp & Dive weekends are great, something for everyone to do.                                                                                                                                   No motorized vehicles  are allowed. Many, Many trails, light houses,                                                                                                                          and caves, both to dive and walk, There are even Water Falls.                                                                                                                                      This area is also famous for the cliffs  called                                                                                                                                                      "PICTURED ROCKS"  Munising,  Mi.

Sliver Jack Res. between Gunnison and Montrose Colorado.

Can canoe and fish, plenty of estableshed camp sites that don't cost a dime.Rugged Mountain Peak views, lots of trees, a water fall, and adjacent wilderness area. Not far from the Ouray Hot springs either. Just pack accordingly, i have been there on the 4th of july before and had it snow.

well if i had my choice itd probably be the white moutains up in maine. ive been there several times and i absolutly love it. id reccommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors. second would probably be ohiopyle in southwestern PA. great place down there with some lovely whitewater. third is probably the smoky mountains national park. that is beautiful as well if you dont mind temps in the 90's and the rattlers lol

My family goes up to Cedarville, MI every year for two weeks. It's always the perfect temperature for camping up there in the summer. It's cool and night and warm during the day, you're on the lake. Not far from Mackinaw. It's in the UP though, which isn't close to anyone really.

I'm going camping this weekend! I can't wait to get out and enjoy the lake. I'm going to attempt some etream water sports. I can ski and tube but I'm going to attempt to try a wake board. It looks awsome. I'm going to camp out in a tent. Some of my family uses RV's. What does everyone prefer..... Tent or RV? I'm old school so I will stick with my tent.

I prefer the tent, though I've been known to simply use the bivy cover on my modular bag.  Have ten days off coming up so I'll be dragging the other half off into the woods for a camping trip.  It would be too easy to use a campground, we're going to use the woods, make it a real camping trip.

That sounds interesting... Let me know how that goes. I want to do something like that but I don't have much time for that. Man, I love the out doors. The only problem I usually have with camping in the woods is the damn coons.

The only issue I forsee is that she has never been camping before.  We will have a short ( weekend ) outing prior to the ten day trip, so she'll get to decide if she's really up for it.

Trying to plan enough to keep us busy during the trip, making little day trips to places like

Wolf Hollow, Ipswich MA ( www.wolfhollowipswich.com )

Americas Stonehenge ( www.stonehengeusa.com )

Ruggles Mine ( www.rugglesmine.com )

Polar Caves ( www.polarcaves.com )

Overall should be a neat and fun trip.  Four days with activities planned, and lots of down time, playing in the woods, trailhunting and whatnot.

After the ten day trip we'll be doing weekend trips with a few of the guys, having someoen drop us off Friday afternoon, then pick us up Sunday afternoon, hiking off into the woods from the dropoff point.

just a suggestion....keep the food in the car, locked coolers, or up in a tree. you'll have very few problems with them. and if that doesnt work, a .22 short pistol will do the job nicely haha

.22?  I was thinking that justifies taking the AR

Typically on an off in the woods trip I take atleast one handgun.  Usually stored out of sight, and out of the way, in a MOLLE pouch on my leg.

For food on this trip it'll just be canned goods and MREs
