Ok, I started the group therefore I will break the proverbial ice!

My knickname obviously, is Moose.  I received my name the day I was born by a nurse in the hospital nursery.  When I was born I weighed 10 pounds and was 24 inches long!!  I did not fit into any of the basinets they had and they needed to go into the storage and bring out an old incubator so they had a bed for me to fit in!  When they got me settled one of the nurses was joking around with the rest and decided to grab a marker, flip my name tag over and write "Moose" on the back.  When my father got my mother sttled into her room he came to get me and bring me up and he just about FLIPPED when he couldnt fing my tag anywhere.  Finaly the nurses came over and said "Oh you mean 'Moose", hes over here, hes fine."

My father just laughed...

So.  Whos next?  Come on, dont be shy.  If you are looking for a name than tell us about yourself and we will generate one for you!!  This should be fun.

Moose

Well, being a son of a dutch father, I was given the nickname Crazy Keesy!!  Well, that was the name he gave me from birth but it is not my nickname any more since he has passed.

The Ladies Auxillary Chief calls me the Super Rookie.  Not sure why because I do not feel that I am super but being since I have joined, I am the only rookie they have right now.  So, I guess that name will have to stick for now.

I have a few nicknames.... Bubby Chubbs od Bubbs being the oldest and the one my family calls me...When I was born a family friend was looking at me and said "Oh, look at those bubby chubbs...." refering to my chubby cheeks...and it stuck :)

I also get called Mitzi...because I have strong little mitts (hands).

Emmiline, Em and Emmy and all nicknames too...just variations of my name though...and kind of boring :)

I do not know how I realy got the nickname of Firedog but it seems to fit.  I guess that it is because of my old age (LOL).

now this is where it could get myself into deep trouble here lol she is my wife and dare i spill the beans on her or not. she's married to a brit(me lol) and is a wanna be brit----there is a cruder version of that but she can tell you that. she is a hunter and hunter safety instructor, she paints, picks up accents real good she almost does a passable british one now . she was a bridesmaid at a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago and the brides mother absolutely covered all the girls in some sparkly stuff and i mean covered it was all over our dammed house when she changed for bed so "sparkles" or something similar might be a starting point.    as for myself i've had a couple-------duracell and coppertop coz i head ginger hair when i was younger, during the gulf war i got called Baldrick by the boys in my section-------never sure if this was a compliment or not, watch the british comedy blackadder if you can and let me know.  since moving over here a few friends have called me limey and 1 calls me that dammed brit or just english. well you all ponder the info and see what you can come up with for ladyff--------------take care and stay safe

I,ve had several. Dad called me ' Chevy'. You figure that one out. In the service I had the nickname Trolly because of something that happened  on a trip between SD California and Mexico. " Gummy when that was popular because I was big and always bounce my way through tough times. Firedog is the one I,ve liked and kept the most. It describes me best.

Ummm, yeah. I think alot of us would be nicknamed S***head or A**hole. It should really come from your local buds in the department.

Nicknames are historically earned on the fire ground or in the house, from a specific incident or activity.  Usually an embarrassing event that you would rather forget is the one that will stick.

i'm usually best at giving other's their nicks for me to call'm.  i don't nor have really had any that have stuck.  the occational "pet name" from the occational guy, but, that's about it.

since some have mentioned nicks from when they were born, i guess i could divulge my mother calling me (and still does) pookie, mar and mar-ee (don't know how you'd spell that) from my first name (amara).

my kids, on the other hand ... HEAPS of nicks

Someone came up with the username for HALO (we've linked all of our x-boxes in our rooms at the station), and it stuck. I moved here from Mississippi which is where the swamp thing comes from. One of the guys at the station has the nickname Shrek.....since we hangout I ended up as donkey.....hence the Swamp Donkey........maybe I should use that for my user name here...

"Lt. Dan" Just as soon as the plant moved to an EMT Lt. that's all it took . I'm no longer a Lt. But everyone tries to sound like Forest Gump. I like it, I could have ended up with a whole lot worse. The rest of the name would be maked inappropriate.
