| Posted about 1 month ago We are working on what new hires can do on scene, before they are up to speed. Somethings that cadets could be trained to do: Change bottles, set up tool drops, scene security, assist various command positions as a scribe (recording times, people, etc) Obviously nothing putting them at risk. |

| Posted about 1 month ago I think laying hose line or refiling SCBA bottles would be a great task. Everything on a fire scene is critical. It doesn't matter what jobs you do on a fire scene, it is all important. I think cadets could do salvage and overhaul. I totally agree about doing things that you are trained for and not stepping out of your scope of training/ practice. "Semper Fi Do or Die" United States Marine Corps |

Completely agree with you, laying hose is a great job and is refilling SCBA bottles. By laying hose they come to appreciate just how much of a pain in the ass it is to get it all off the truck LOL. Hooking to a hydrant wouldn't be a bad experience for them either. On a night scene, set up generators and lights, do anything you can do within your training but don't just stand there! |
