Thought you might like to read the following… A little over one year ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high. 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon. 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%. Since voting in a democratically controlled Congress in 2006, we have seen: 1) Consumer confidence plummets. 2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon. 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase). 4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses). 5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars. 6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure. America voted for 'change' in 2006, and we got it! Remember, it's Congress that makes the law…not the President. He has to work with what's handed him. Read this… Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with propaganda that it's the 'Iraq War' and the 'War on Terror' that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. | Posted about 1 month ago I, like most everyone I know, will not vote this term. All of the choices suck. McCain is probably the best given the options, but he is far from ideal either. If only the entire population would stand up and refuse to vote, and demand all new choices. Jeff Draper

| Posted 20 days ago when I vote, if I vote, I think I'll vote for mickey mouse or something like that. Why? because our votes don't really matter anyways. It all boils down to electoral colleges that only allow so many votes per state to be credible. In other words everyone else to them doesn't matter. I have no idea who to actually vote for, but I do know that I refuse to vote for either of the two people running for president. |

Now this is just plain awful of you to say. None of us ever has any control over how our parents behave. Some of us have drunks or jerks for fathers. That certainly doesn’t mean you have to grow up to be a drunk or a jerk. I’m proud of my Irish heritage, but that doesn’t mean my granddad wasn’t a drunk and a jerk. Come on now.

I think it is a comfort, compared to the political bumblings of Palin and Dub-ya. I’m not saying McCain is all bad, but I think he’s a liar and a flip-flopper. He USED to be the straight talk express. He USED to have integrity, but once the race for the presidency started, we saw his true colors. I can see why you might have wanted to vote for him once- but today, he changes his political opinion so fast it’s mind boggling! He flip flops on gay marriage.

I don’t ask that you vote one way or another. I ask that you EDUCATE YOURSELVES. Then vote. |

| Posted 20 days ago ok as a brit(legal alien) i can give an outsiders view from the inside as it were-------mcain is the lesser of 2 evils,from what i see voting for obama is making the same mistake britain did when they elected tony blair. blair promised much just like a dodgy used car saleman and actually delivered nothing.infact he sold britain down the river without a paddle. he made white brits feel ashamed to be british and of our history. mark my words america will follow the same path should obama be elected. however not that his rival is offering a whole lot more-------both seem to me to be offering the same tired old policies that have failed before.
as a footnote on illegal immigrants. i dont dispute all of the figures and amounts mentioned. however i do say this speaking from experience of farms in this area. how many white boys want to do the work these people do?????? the answer is very few and what happened when the current govt tried to do something about the problem--------it died a death in congress because too many politicians dragged it out in order to secure political points for their own egos. the problem of illegal immigrants will not go away and needs sorting to protect america and those decent people who want to come and work in america etc |

| Posted 20 days ago Obama isn't muslim. Apparantly you haven't seen that bit of info. What if he were, like his father was, an atheist? Would you not vote for someone who didn't believe in god? Suppose someone claimed to actually not only talk to god but that god answered back. Would you vote for that person? At what point would you decide that perhaps someone's religion is meaningless when it comes to government and politics? Also, what changes, exactly, does McCain propose? People in here rail against the wall street bail out and letting dem fat kats sinks, but who do you think supports those fat cats? Not Obama. McCain does though. Right now the republicans have stalled the bail out plan because they are more concerned about how it will affect wall street and the corporate executives than they are about how it will affect the tax payers. A good republican will always put the interests of big business before that of the average american. What they've managed to do is convince everyone that they are the party of morals values, family and god. Sometimes I think that;s all that many people see when they decide who to vote for. I'd rather vote for someone who believes in the american people, in justice and democracy than someone who simply waves a flag, an apple pie and prays in publc. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to vote for whomever they please, but if you don't want to bother reading up on the candidates positions and instead would rather read skewed, irrelevant or blatanlty false 'facts' that's fine too. I just think it would be better served to just say who you're voting for and leave it at that rather than to add all things that aren't true and simply there to scare people. If you think McCain is the better person, vote for him. I served in the military exactly so you could have that opportunity. Just seems a waste to vote without knowing all of the facts and proposals. |

| Posted 19 days ago if i'm entirely honest here i hate politicians on both sides of the atlantic simply because they have all to a man/woman forgotton why they are doing what they do. imo maggie thatcher and ronnie reagan were the last 2 decent leaders out there evrything/one since then has really been a waste of time. when the politicains remember they are for the people by the people and not for the politicians by the people then maybe i'll respect them until then whoever you vote for isn't going to do what they promised to do in the run up to the election---------really its a case of do you want to be shot or hung, great choice right folks?????? |

I'm not sayin that my area represents the entire population and it's views but when it comes to who wants to do the work, a lot of us white boys around here want to work in the fields. Thats where the money is, problem is theres just so many hispanics around that before ya know it they've taken most of the field work and the only places that we can work for part time jobs and such is places like grocery stores, restaurants and other places that don't pay near as well as workin in the fields. I'm not tryin to say that we should get first pick or anything, they have families too and they've got to do all they can to support them. Times are tough. However, I do agree with ya though, I'm tired of the same old crap that all of these politicians promise just so they can get elected and then sit on their tails just thinkin about how they can get more money. I still wouldn't trust Obama with a thing though. |
