In my county our dispatchers are not really trained proberly except one guy.  They still give us family names of houses instead of physical addresses. We tried to tell them to stop nicely but they keep doing it.  We have been sent to the wrong part of town because our dispatchers never ask for a real location they just read the CAD screen. Any advise to keep these good happy at us at the same time we try to tell them they are bad

Make sure it is pointed out to the leadership (county commissioners, etc), that by giving family names over the air, the dispatchers are creating liability issues due to confidentiality laws (HIPPA).  Sometimes, when you throw $$$$ into the equation in the form of liability - attitudes and opinions tend to change.

Make sure the 911 center has the funds/resources to properly hire and train qualified people.

The first thing every dispatcher should learn is never trust that all address come up correct. Always ASK the caller never Assume......

Have a meeting and explain the issues that assuming brings up. Time is of the utmost importance with this job and the dispatcher knows that when they start work any mistake makes for longer enrt time and those few minutes could be a life...
