hello i was wondering i have a crimnal record of a misdoneaor petty larceny charge and i got it expunged. When filling out my app. should i state that i have a record and be honest even though its expunged and do i still have a chance of being hired if im honest.

this post has been on a few days ... but, if you ask ME i would say yes.  unless the app states "not including expunged crimes".  it's always best to be honest on your app.

Usually applications ask if you have ever been convicted of a felony; and if so, what were the details.  Some may ask for misdameanors, but if it doesn't specify I wouldn't put anything.  They will most likely do a police/FBI background check and when they run your fingerprints and run you through LEIN, then any current and/or outstanding charges will be found.  If your record is clean (exponged) then you have nothing to worry about.

Another thing you can do is to go to your local police department and ask them to check your background.  You can request traffic and/or criminal records.  You may have to pay a fee, but at least you would know exactly what would show up, if anything at all.
