Posted about 1 month ago I'm wondering what do fire fighters carry in thier turn out gear pockets? What is a good balance between needed tools, gadgets and being over loaded? |

| Posted about 1 month ago I have a tool bag that has a multi tool and a window punch and some cable cutters the other pocket has my cloves in one thing to remember when outfitting your bunkers is put all your self rescue tools in your weak side pocket if you fall through a floor or something and get trapped you will probably go to the dominant side and then you wont be able to reach any of your tools. I also wear a leather truck belt that has a figure 8 and 100 ft of bail out rope and some beaners an axe sheath and extra clips for what ever.

| Posted about 1 month ago I think we went through this post in another arena? LOL, Dust, Lint, and a couple of pennies! OOOOOHHHHH you meant turnout gear? Lineman pliers, 4 in 1 screwdriver, diagonal cutters,10 16 penny nails, impact gloves, 16 foot webbing, structural gloves, 2way radio, all purpose knife on my hip, spring loaded center punch! One thing to add for anyone getting ideas from this is to work with your type calls. we run over 30% MVA's maybe 10% Jobs 10% chimney fires and every thing else in between. Try to govern your personal equipment carried to your talents and what you do! What does a junior firefighter need with a bailout bag just like a chauffeur carrying 16D nails ( use them to hold doors open) So use your abilities and training to the gear you carry: Stay Safe, Stanley |

| Posted about 1 month ago I personally think people carry too much in their pockets. I have a pair of sidecuts, extrication gloves, structure gloves, cigs and a small flashlight I carry my portable on a radio strap and alway have my gerber multitool on my hip. what people dont realize is we bring firetrucks full of tools to the call for a reason and you should have what you need on the truck to take in with you. I just went through a training with my new probie and after that training he removed over 8 lbs of unneccessary equipment from his pockets.. |

| Posted about 1 month ago I carry a structual glove in each pocket, an extrication glove in each pocket, and an ASP Batton (for breaking my way out of crap) in my right pocket. Sometimes to maintain your authority in the face of criticism, you have to make stuff up. |

You sound like me! Also carried a buck knife, 6"crescent wrench, wire cutters & flashlite batteries. Had a spanner wrench clipped to ring on my bunker pants. |

| Posted 12 days ago Well, due to the fact that I'm a female and am not as good as some on here, right sdq, guess I better just put band aids and tampons in my pockets. We weakling "girls" can't carry much else. |

| Posted about 1 hour ago In my bunkper pants left pocket i carry about 4-5 wood chocks, (we have alot of hotels, apartment buildings and nursing homes in our district), a folding spanner wrench, goggles, and a small flashlight. In my right pocket i have 35' Bail out rope and my carbon fiber hood. We have a clip on our coats in which we are able to carry our gloves. And on my helment i have a band that carries two wood chocks, unfourtnatly the flashlight won't sit right on the helmet. When we switch to the defender set of gear i plan to put the hood in my coat pocket and i am also planning on removing the goggles and the flashlight from my pockets and make more room with no plans on filling the space. |
