Hi my name is Kathy & I live in Memphis Tenn. i am wondering if anybody can tell me how to go about getting started as a ,paramedic,emt Ambulances,rescue,or any thing in the aspect of helping others and how hard it is to start a profession in this career.?any kinda schooling or training that could apply would be helpful.thanks to all of you who serve and risk your lives day after day ,May God Bless you all.~!!!! kathy

Check around your local colleges / junior college for Emergency Medicine programs.  Alot of junior colleges have a pathway into EMS.

Hello,


Its great that you would want to get in  a field like those.  First I would say that you should find out what schools around you might offer those type of programs.  Normaly most tech schools offer the classes.  Then you would maybe want to volunteer with a department to see if you like it also.  Then once all that is done be prepared to give up a lot of time.  When I was in school thats all I could concentrate on, but in the end it all pays off.  If it get overwhelming just step back and take a breath.  Most schools offer the EMT class where you can either become an EMT-B (basic) or an EMT-I (intermediate)  after those then you can go into the Paramedic courses.  i hope this helps you some.  Good luck with everything.
