Posted 5 months ago I was just sitting here wondering what everyones favorite tool to grab off the truck is. I personally like the halogan or a set of irons. What is the first tool you grab for and when do you grab it? I take alot with me on leaving the truck but leave alot of it at the entrance and keep my halogan with me.. It's not what you don't know. It's what you are unwilling to learn.... |

Would SR like the 6' hook, 5' hook, or the latest greatest by ventil8 the S&R tool? Also very useful for ripping sheet metal off the side of an outdoor wood stove. |

| Posted 5 months ago We just got a new set of extrication tools by Holmatro. It is suppose to cut thru all those new post on the newer superb cars. Our dept and 1 other in Spokane are the only ones with this capability. So I can not wait to get out there and try them. |

| Posted 5 months ago If it's fire i want water, give me the nozzle. If it's search then i agree with the others Halligan's the way to go. Some times if were looking for smoke it's the thermal imaging unit. So it varies. If i'm there before the truck it's me and my flashlight for a quick walk around. |

| Posted 5 months ago I always go for the short Pike Pole. It seems to help out more often than not most of the time. We usually have the rookies on the hose lines so we can give them direction on scene. |

| Posted 5 months ago I would have to say the 4' GATOR BACK by Fire Hooks Unlimited.....pike pole tip, serrated blade on the back and a "D" handle, great for searching and taking out both paneled and sheetrocked walls!!!! As a second option......definitely the Halligan bar! |

| Posted 4 months ago I'd have to go with the nozzle... lol. But if I can't get the nozzle it's either the Halligan or a 6' New York Hook. |

| Posted 3 months ago Being that we respond to more grass fires than anything I would say outside of the nozzle it would be a shovel or a slap mat |

| Posted 3 months ago for me, halligan all the way, we also have an air door lift thats name i cant recall at the moment(we never use it, training only), you slide it under a door with a sledge, and you life the door up out of the hinges, its not the quickest, but not matter the security of the door you can get through. makes the door almost a total loss though.
