Posted 5 months ago How long have you been in the Fire service and how long it take for you to get your full turnout gear on including the SCBA |

| Posted 5 months ago i've been in the fire service approx. 12 yrs. when i took my firefighter one cert., we were required to don our ppe in 1 minute or less. same for scba. i believe i could get my ppe on in approx. 45 seconds and scba in 50. if the trainees couldn't complete this task as required, they did not pass. |

| Posted 5 months ago I started in 80's as a jr. FF. Took basic FF. FF1 . Sat in on training from age 6. Got my turnout gear by age 15. Used company SBCA to go in a few times. It helped that the Chief and Assit. Chief and all the FF knew me most of my life. No one questioned my being there on scene even from other departments. My Dad also an officer at the time told me to keep my gear on and mouth shut. There were limitation because of age and degree of danger. I had to hang it up for awhile but now i'm back. It's like being with my first love again. I am glad that rules are more inforced now. It's better to be safe. I know , I almost lost my life once. Help someone is some way everyday. Standing at the ready, Tail wagging; ready to run !! |
