I grew up at a fire station. those were happy days for me. We had one of the first FF explorers troops. We won Best of show at the south west Fla. scout jambory. I loved every aspect of helping people. I've never stopped loving it.

I LOVE to read books, and one day I came across one called The Protector from Dee Henderson and read that, and ever since then I've been living, breathing, sleeping, and eating firefighting!

My Uncle Bill ! He's an awesome guy, and ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be just like him. He was a charter member of Roanoke Island Fire Dept. in Manteo, N.C. He gave me the desire to be a F.F. Then when I was 15 I was riding with my cousin on his tow truck one Friday night, and we were dispatched to a bad multi vehicle MVA , extrication, DOAs, multiple injuries, just a couple mile down the road from my house, after watching all that went on, you'd think I would have run the other way, but I decide then and there that I had to help out any way I could. It's been a long time since then, but Uncle Bill still gets the credit.

I started when I was 13.........my father was active in both the fire company and ambulance and I always tagged along and I fell in love with it...........I ended up being a crew member when I was 16 for the ambulance and stayed with it since.

My family has been in the fire dept since the begining. I have been in the ( ladies ) auxiliary for 12 years and I finally decided I was ready to join. Best decision I have ever made.

Firefighting is just something I've wanted to do since i was about 5 years old. It all started by watching a 70s show on TVland called Emergency. Then shortly later my dad and I were on the John Deere Tractor and when we got back to the farm our barn was on fire and we called it in and watching the fire being put out just cought my intrest and ive been intrested in it every since then!

I was 12 as a junior firefighter. But I would say it started when the fire dept. came to the school and we got to ride in it around fifth grade year. Ever since that been wanting to get into the department. Wasnt old enough till 12 and then it all began. Till this day still going strong with it love every bit of it. All for community and the joy of maken a diffrence in peoples lives.

Well my dad had been in the fire department for my town since i was born, but thats not the reason I joined.  I joined because I wanted to see what it was like, and after going to the calls and then the CT fire academy I fell inlove with it.

The reason i became a Firefighter/EMT was because one day I was around 13 y/o my Dad and me were called to my great-grandparents for my great-grandpa collasped on the floor.  When we arrived my grandfather was laying on the floor dying.  When EMS arrived it was new to the area the EMT's came into the house to assist and one of the EMT's walked out throwing up.  So i stepped in to assist the other EMT.  So from then on out i wanted to be a EMT and just like anyother boy or girl I wanted to be a Fireman.  The sirens and lights always were cool and gave me cold chills.  So when i got older i took the step.  I have been a Volunteer Fireman for 10 yrs and EMT for about 6 yrs.  But to say that, i guess every field(Law Enforecment, EMS, Fire FIghting) still gives me cold chills and excitment.  I am a Fulltime 911 Dispatcher as well as being a Fireman and EMT.  SO I have to say that most have my dreams have came true, wouldnt change a thing, I am here to help people and save lives.

Hmmm...why did I join the Fire Service?  Well I was to ugly to be a successful stripper, to dumb to be a surgeon, and to smart to work in Burger King so I became a Firefighter/Medic instead...........................
