I would start by searching the classifieds at www.mlive.com for starters.  Depending on where you want to live, search the county specific web sites and local news papers.  Usually the bigger cities like Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Traverse City, Grand Rapids, and Muskegon are the most common ones to hire.  Some may have their own academy you may have to attend despite your current qualificaitons.  Some smaller townships have 9-5 type of operations, like Grand Rapids Township, Fruitport Township.  There are also Public Safety Departments where they combine Police, Fire, and EMS (first response) in places like East Grand Rapids, Ionia, and Kalamazoo.  Hope this helps.
