Posted 5 months ago My daughter is a doctor because of this show. She used to watch it when she was about 4 or 5 years old. She kept telling everyone she wanted to be a doctor and help people. Everyone kept saying oh, you want to be a nurse... She would say NO, I want to be a Doctor so when Johnny brings hurt people in, I can fix them... She is currently an Internal Medicine Doctor at Kaiser... She fixes people... |

| Posted 4 months ago I used to watch the show and wanted to be a paramedic. Many years later and a stint in the military part of it with SAR, now I'm finally starting to be on my way to become one. As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.

| Posted 3 months ago If your after getting rich (finacially) your in the wrong trade. If your after getting rich through personal fufillment and an adrenalin rush this is your place. As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.

| Posted 3 months ago Call me odd (like my friends do!) but I cannot say that a TV show that I saw as a junior firefighter really influenced me. I'm a second generation firefighter, my uncle was my first Captain, and a bagful of cousins were on the department. Was able to take EMT in summer school one year, and got a job that lead me to become a paramedic. |

| Posted 3 months ago Hey, I watched the show everyday 30 years ago or longer, because I thought it was great. Now I think it probably had some influence but like DaveyB my Grandfather was a firefighter and I think that also might of influenced myself. |

| Posted 3 months ago Hahaha yea i watch this show growing up and still to this day have some of the seasons on DVD. It is what inspired me to be a paramedic and hopefuly one day i will acheice my dream... haha you gotta love EMERGENCY! |

| Posted 3 months ago my dad was a fireman for 16 yrs and i watched the show growing up as a kid in indiana, saturday night at 7pm was a blast. now when i get on a dept. we can not even ride the tailboard what a drag(lol) my mom was an ambulance chaser we used to take coffee to the scenes of big fires. |

| Posted 2 months ago Engine 51 ended up in Yosemite because Universal Studios owned the concession rights for Curry Company in Yosemite and they needed an engine with less miles. They swapped E-51 for Engine 7, a 50's vintage open cab Seagrave. Engine 51 has been returned to LA County and one day will be restored and be placed in the County Museum. When the TV series Emergency was a hit, the stars Gage and Desoto were going to be on the program at the California Firemans Association Convention in Anaheim. We took our restored 1923 Seagrave to the convention. The '23 won best antique engine in the parade. We heard a rumor that Squad 51 was going to be at the pool/picnic event. On a hunch we took our old '23 through a gate to the event. Sure enough, Gage and Desoto showed up in Squad 51! A quick maneuver placed our '23 next to Squad 51 for pictures. | Posted 2 months ago Its kinda funny how, so many firefighters were inspired by this show. I was too inspired by the show and told myself at a young age that I would go into the fire service. I volunteered for many years and now am able to be a fire marshal and investigate what ole jonny and roy would do. |
