Hello, my name is Steve and i live in Dayton, Ohio. I just finished getting my  level 2  card and my emt-b. i want to make a career out of the fire service, but i really want to go into wildland firefighting. i have researched job posting on the internet but still have questions on how i get started. should i start by getting a Red Card? Any and all info that i recieve will be a geat help! God bless and stay safe!

Go to your local forestry unit. Walk in and ask. Thats basically how I got started in the fire service.  Taking that first step seems impossible smetimes but that's what it will take. They can guide you along the way.

Yes, a red card will be mandatory. At least in any respectable situation.

To get a red card in Kansas one has to go through the State Department of Wildlife and Forestry... you might check on-line/Google it Red Card-Your State and check it out to see if that is an avenue.

usajobs.gov, is a good way to start. Start about nov for jobs next summer.  If you want to work in NW colorado hit me up.
