Posted 3 months ago We use firehouse software here. You can adjust the program to suit your needs, Firehouse will submit NFIR report for you (if you do that), and they have a pretty good tech support. Firehouse will also let your dispatch start a remote incident report with all of your time and let you complete the report when you get back to the station......but I think all of the terminals have to be linked to the same system....I'm not sure on the whole IT side of things. EVERYONE goes home SAFE

Posted 3 months ago We use Red Alert which is very customizeable and able to track many things, equipment, training records, daily activity logs, etc... Also able to file NFIRS. We are about to upgrade to the newer verision, it has a different name and is more adapted to the tough books. We use it for both fire and ems and with administrative rights your able to set what you want to be required fields. If I'm not mistaken it can also be intergrated into CAD and pre-fire plans. Here's a link to there website www.alpinesoftware.com/millenniumsystem.html

Posted 3 months ago I'm not sure if you're looking for fire and ems or just ems. We use EMSCharts. It is very simple to use, and breaks down each patient. First, there is a page all for dispatch information (what unit, who went, times, mileage, location, etc.). Then there is a pt info page. This page is all the PMH, meds and allergies of the pt, plus insurance info. Then it breaks down the assessment in to various sections. There is also a section for OB/GYN and MVA's. Then it gives you an electronic trip sheet that you can put your narrative into. After that, you electronically submit, and list all supplies used. It is a rather simple program. The part I like about it is that you don't have to be at the station to use it. You can do it anywhere. Each member has their own account and login info. and one person has admin access. I'm not sure about the support system that is offered, but I know that we haven't really had any problems with it. It will occaisonally tell us that access is denied but other than that nothing major. If you just refresh after access is denied, it usually works. I hope I was of some help.

Posted 3 months ago I use FireTools at our dept. Starts with the basic NFRS-1 form for EMS and Fire, then builds off for each job. It also shows who made what runs and how many. Need more infor PM me!

Posted 3 months ago Thanks for the info. I also have questions. I guess that the art of writing reports has been lost. Blame it on new medics? blame it on training or education? Blame it on lawyers. Who knows. I guess we are looking for a program that will collect your data and kind of get rid of a written narrative. I personally love a narrative but the majority are looking for a point and click type of software. Sansea is a florida state approved software. I think ems charts is as well. Do you have any pros or cons of either? Something that stands out in your heads you know. We wish me luck I'm prepping for a hurricane today. Doesn't look to be as bad as charley. Thats good news. See ya l8r and keep me posted. Thanks all for your help.

Posted 3 months ago If you are looking for software that you do not have to write a narrative for, then you may want to lean away from EMSCharts. The last step is a written narrative with times. You may be able to bypass that step, because it is all listed in the previous screens, but I am not sure due to the fact that my dept. requires you to provide them with an electronic trip sheet with written narrative as well as a hard copy of a trip sheet from the call, and a face sheet from the hospital. If you would like more detailed information about EMSCharts, feel free to Private Message me. **This is also just my opinion about written narratives, but I am going to give it anyway. I feel that by having a written narrative, you are recreating that image of the call. I mean, what happens five years down the road from now when that patient that you had one day decides to sue you for mistreatment, and you forget the call or do not have written documentation of what you did and what you didn't do. Then it's your word against theirs, and if you lose because you didn't have that written narrative to help repaint that picture of the call that you ran that day, there goes your whole career. In my opinion, it's not worth it to not write one, unless of course you can remember every detail of every call you have ever ran. But that's just my opinion, it's everyone's choice.**
