I'm not actually in fire explorers, but I'd like to be. Can anyone give me a little information on how to join?

Go to your nearest Department and meet with the Chief, Asst. Chief or anyone that will talk to you.

Isn't the Explorers still part of the Boy Scouts? I would also check with your local troop.

Hello all, Im an Explorer Post Advisor in Ohio, and was explorer myself, a long, long time ago. Great place to meet new friends and to learn the basics of Emergency Services. Explores are apart of the Boy Scots Of America, but my post does not follow the teaching of the BSA. We hve branched out into venturaing or Learning-for-Life. Please go to the Lerning-for-Life web site and check it out. If you dont have a post in your area you can get the info for the web and get with your local FD and start your own Post.

Please correct me if I am wrong...

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life is a  school and work based program that is a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America.  So you do follow the teaching of the BSA, but not in the traditional sense of merit badges and Camporees.

technically u guys are right most explorers or also called cadets are part of the bsa

but not all of them for example my post was established by broward county fire rescue back in 2000 when we merged with the sheriff around 2003 to become the broward sheriff office department of fire rescue and emergency services

the rules from the sheriff woudnt alowwed an affiliation with that kind of organization (dont ask me why) so the cadet program was supressed and the explorer program was created with no affiliation to the BSA

at the end not all explorer or cadet programs are with the BSA
