| Posted 3 months ago Are you talking about the written or the practical? For the written I can tell you what worked for a few of us: We had FFI flash cards. Basically it had every question you could think of. It happened that there were about 5 or 6 of us and we would go down to the station, order pizza and quiz each other while hanging out and shooting pool. Got to say I'm sure there are other ways of studying but we all passed with flying colors and in my opinion was an excellent way to study and reinforce all of the information. For the practical, ask a few of the firefighters and/or your officers to work with you on the practical. The instructors should have given you an idea of what to expect for the practical test but anyone in your dept. that has recently gone through it should be able to give you a clue. In any case, ropes and knots, SCBA, ladders, hoses, rescue, fire behavior, extinguishers and sprinklers to give you an idea. Look through the practical sheets in your manual, that is where the test is coming from. Good Luck democracy, not theocracy, not now, not ever |

| Posted 2 months ago damnthing has that pretty spot on. Flashcards helped me and my guys out, and quizzing each other became a friendly competition. Use the practical guide book they give you and study all of it. What I did was look at the evaluation sheets, and write out each step as if I were doing it. We also got together on the off weekends and practiced our practicals. Here in CT they actually sell a study guide at the fire academy for FF1 and FF2 and it had the majority of the questions on it. |
