I will only post one link here...it's mine   www.txstorm.us

I invite all to post links to their favorite websites which pertain to weather and its affects.  I know there are a million, but try not to duplcate!!

PS:  Keeping a keen eye on Gustav.  This of us on the Gulf Coast are watching, simply because we have absolutely no idea where a storm system will go.  But, we do our best not to panic anyone.  Remember the Rita evacuations?  Good Lord willing...no more of that.

www.noaa.gov

Here you can find your local regional doppler radar.  They are usually given by airport ID codes.  For example Grand Rapids= GRR.

Looking for the "bow echo" or the "hook"?  http://kkd.ou.edu/METR%202603/metr2603lecture16.htm

Here is a quick time movie of a 3D developing storm.  http://kkd.ou.edu/Storm%20Splitting.AVI

Alright, to keep Chase1 off my back, I DO NOT chase storms!  It is inherently dangerous!  If you do not know what you are doing you can and will be killed!  EXPERIENCED chasers know how to duck and run BEFORE they get smashed.  This means they know weather patterns and such.

I am a storm spotter for my county while on duty. I was trained by Barry Gooden from The National Weather Service out of Peachtree City, GA on the very basics of storm spotting.  I want him to come back for the, I think,  8 hr course.  So, happy campers, thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I am interested in storms because they scare the crap outta me. The more I know, the more secure I am in my decisions dealing with them when they come.  Sure, I would love to chase out west but I aint going out of my way to get there! LOL

That's cool. I am thankful that gets pointed out every so often too. That boundary needs to be kept alive. There is a huge difference.

This hurricane went from a Cat-1 to a Cat-3 in the last 6 hours. It's in the warm Gulf waters, and it's building fast. I am guessing it will make a 4 easily at some point, but may waver and hold at a 3-4.

This is a good basic learning web site for weather:  http://www.meted.ucar.edu/

For those who deal with the West's wildland fires, the "Fire Weather" section is very good.
