Posted 2 months ago This dude got interviewed by a Birmingham news crew because he was a evacuee. Well he was one of the ones they put on a bus and brought up because he was unable to leave on his on. So they bring him to a safe shealther set up the City of Birmingham and the Red Cross with a huge showing from Birmingham fire ,ems, and LEO's to make sure every thing is safe and secure. They gave him a bed, and food. they even let them get into local events like movies and museums. Churchs coming out cooking, Alabama busnesses donating clothes and blankets. Then he blasted everyone because "they ain't give us no spending money"
and that is where i am stopping. If I type more the DOJ might look for me and take me to jail then I would need some spending money. |

| Posted 2 months ago Completely typical, and exactly what we were refering to in the "New Orleans - Deja Vu" discussion a few days ago. New Orleans in katrina was MUCH worse than this. It would shock and appaul most people what went on and how they acted. Jeff Draper

| Posted 2 months ago That was the first words out of the mouths of a few that got off the aircraft here. When I went down after Katrina there was signs everywhere "Help Wanted" and "Now Hiring",,,,I say if they want $$ then go back and help out,,,,, I watched 5 and 6 year old kids drag what was left of their homes to the road so a loader could come pick it up and dump it in a truck. You would think they would want to go back and work in their city to rebuild it. Some just want a hand out instead of helping out. Guess I'm wired a little different than most but I say if you can go back and work then those folks need to be loaded back up and sent home to do their job. |

| Posted 2 months ago i realize that this is somthing i am going to have to accept when i get in, some people wanting more and more, complaining about not getting what they WANT, while they got everything they NEED. you have got to be kidding me! no spending money, cmon!!

| Posted 2 months ago i read that before Katrina the hispanic pop. was like 2-5% now it like 25% and they were tring to say the reason the increase was due to folks not returning to the area after the "storm". No it is bacause they have moved to the area for the jobs of rebuilding trades. I dont like that but if it was not for them the builder would have people to staff their crews..

I feel your pain. We had bus loads in Huntsville & I work in Ft. Payne and had a mess of them. In our local hospitals, all have been reporting an overwhelming number of drug seekers. In a local college the had to call in the Alabama Guard to help with security to keep the college kids safe and to keep these people from wandering around the campus. These folks did nothing be complained because they felt captive.

| Posted 2 months ago I truly hate to say this but.........it is typical human behavior these days for people to be so darn self centered and unappreciative even when things are handed to them. Even if you do your best they always seem to WANT more. It is sad to see that people cannot just be content with what there is and accept things for just what they are. |

Now how about those poor folks in the Mid-West only a few months ago that were flooded out for weeks. You NEVER heard anything from them and they were really grateful for the help they got.

| Posted 2 months ago Gentlemen, I would say it is typical for anyone to ask for a handout. Most people that ask for money probably want it for drugs. I agree with most of you, if you want money, go and get a job. During a crisis, most of everything is given to you. You will get back on your feet in no time. Just do not be ungrateful by asking for money. |

| Posted 2 months ago But is not like they ask "asking" for the money. But they are Bitching about it not being offered. they just want those red cross debit cards like last time so they go get them sum over on MLK Blvd. |

| Posted 2 months ago Sounds familiar durring the year of the new orleans incident my cousin was living in a brand new pent house style apts here in cleveland not in the greatest area but the place was a old highschool that was transformed into expensive apt and lofts well after the place was all completed the owner and city let the victoms of the hurrican come and stay there BAD IDEA durring that time someone ordered a pizza in a different apt and a few guys from New Orleans jumped the kid for his money and pizza and trashed the places it just wasnt working out and brought crime to the building, we were there for my cousins 6th birthday and the fire alarms would go off every 30mins that day and it got to be where the people who lived there would ignore them from the people setting them off for fun and it was a pain being down in the gym having to come through the long halls from the basement. so the fire dept would come then after a couple alarms they just had the manager call them and report it if the alarm was real or not. but after a few weeks they were thrown out and the place has gone down after that. you give them some freedom and help but then they take advantage of everything |

| Posted 2 months ago My arguement and comparison for Katrina is, look at the other states that also got slammed, some even worse, but rarely made the news, did no bitching, and got back up on their own and back into life. It was only New Orleans that had these issues. Coincidence? Media hype? I think not. Jeff Draper

| Posted 2 months ago Exactly chase! New Orleans wasn't the only one affected. My brother went down to Mississippi to help rebuild a year after Katrina, and the pictures he brought back looked exactly like (if not worse) then the ones they show on tv of N.O!! But nobody says anything about how bad Mississippi and the other states got it. No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. |

| Posted 2 months ago The media is fixated on New Orleans! They showed up this week and waited for the levees to fail and when they didn't the media went home. They didn't stop and take a up close look at Baton Rouge which took the brunt of the storm. Damage in Baton Rouge is unbelievable. The media skipped it because it doesn't make the current administration look bad! 80000 people without power and some will be without for 3 to 6 weeks!! 500 bucket trucks alone just in the city of Baton Rouge working 24/7. More headed in! Still 3 to 6 weeks! Eddie D. Howard

| Posted 2 months ago Also not mentioned, N.O. sucked the money dry with no visible improvment. For instance. I go fishin and take the family to the beach in the gulf around Carabelle and Panacea, FL. While they have rebuilt, it did not come from federal aid. Some aid yes, but not like further west. I asked the motel owner why the place looked so shabby and she simply replied, "no money left, all ran out down the coast." No bitching, no complaining. A simple statement and that was the end of it. The next morning, over a cup of coffee, she said she chose to live in a coastal town and knew the downside of it. She doesn't guide God's hand. I know it wasn't a direct hit but point is, most of the US gulf was affected by Katrina and the locals did what they had to do to survive without all the "comps" and "freebies". Americus, GA. Hit by a F3 tornado a couple years ago and took out the HOSPITAL! It made local news, but since less than 10 people were killed it never made it past the southeast, if that. I really have a problem with the media. Death and chaos are the only newsworthy events these days. I am not mad at FEMA or our government. The media made them look like shit, and in turn, public safety. President Bush didn't decide,"Hey! Lets degrade society today with terrorist attacks and hurricanes!" But good ole' CNN sure made it that way. When is the rest of America gonna say ENOUGH! We gotta KILL a BUNCH of people and then supposedly treat the survivors like non-humans to get a story. What a deal. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Some people can be so ungrateful. I won't post what my true feelings on this because I will probably get my account deleted. I cannot stand people like this! Instead of saying thank you, they bitch and want more and more. I do not and will not feel sorry for people like him. The world is such a sad place that people like him are living in it. Just my two cents.... Susan H. Correia

| Posted about 1 month ago Tell him to get off his lazy, welfare sucking butt and get a job like the rest of us! Just when you think you have heard of everything!
