| Posted 2 months ago How about, for example; checking the batteries in the smoke detector before dialing 911, having someone move the smoke detector from right in front of the bathroom door so steam won't set it off, having a fire extinguisher in or near the kitchen, getting your chimney cleaned before you have a chimney fire, I could go on but you get the point, oh wait what about, full PPE before you get on the rig, not leaving gloves or flashood etc. behind, on the way to or from the call, the right hose (and/or length), tools, etc, So I have to agree with hallberg630, "uncommon" sense, because 'common' sense seems to result in all of the above whereas uncommon sense means that you've thought beyond the usual, or common framework. In fact, maybe "uncommon sense" can actually be better defined as situational awareness!

| Posted 2 months ago common sense is the one thing you can't teach a person, it's like breathing either you do or don't. As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.

| Posted 2 months ago I also agree with chuck. I have said this for years (I'm also a Quality Inspector) As long as stupidity is an epidemic I'll always have a job. As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.

| Posted 29 days ago When i teach classes i like to use the phrase, "stop and breath yourself !!" I'm one of the worse to react then think. If i would stop and breath myself i'd be in better shape. |
