Ike has been heading this way for around a week now, and is aimed at New Orleans in the forecast models.

Hehe, personally I'd like to see it hit about Corpus and bring us a bunch of rain. Flooding wouldn't break my heart either. But I know there is a huge difference between our flooding and yours. Maybe it could squeeze in between yall and Corpus and come hit us?

ok Chase1    everytime these guys here at work think the H-word is coming anywhere close  ... they decied we need to work " the weekend" and get things ready for the H-word. Yes the money is nice but I need rest too  lol   been here since 1979 and I have rode most of the storms out and will do so for a long time to come so it really doesn't matter to me but  we really dont need it to come here. not enough housing in this area as it is  lol

This may be a good reason why not to live below sea level.   Hurricane Ike may finish off what Katrina and Gustav did not.  It would be nice if it did turn towards South Central Texas and dump some rain but no damage......steve-0

I agree. I just want some rain to green things up, cool things off, and put a damper on our brush fires that are becoming rampant again since they lifted the burn ban for most counties. I don't want michael to have to work harder than normal.  I hear ya Mike, our department freaks everytime there is any event or holiday weekend and goes into the end of the world scenario. Planning is great, but 99% of the time nothing happens and it becomes like crying wolf.

Hope those of you in the line of Ike make out ok. Here in PA we could use some rain. I'm getting a little tired of brush fires every other day. I haven't seen things this dry around here in quite some time. Take care all of you!!!!!

No offence to anybody. But it (IKE) can stay away from the N.Carolina coast. We were lucky with Hanna.

The SMAT team I'm with will most likely go to help out. Just like Katrina.

I can assure you Texas handles things much differently than Louisiana.

Here in New Orleans there are plans to Shelter in place several of the FEMA teams at this time!

Kinda Scary, but that is where the work is!

I have a rough couple of days ahead of me...I have to tour each and every Fire House in Orleans Parish!!!

It is a rough assignment, but me and my partner (and our cameras) are bound and determined to Get It Done-Right!!!

Watch for the two legged snakes, they're even worse after a storm.

LMAO.

This thing is now aimed at Galveston, but is still not going to make landfall until sometime around Saturday, so it has plenty of time to stroll around whatever direction it chooses.

Some can be more accurate overall, but the path they end up with  just averages all of these.

That purple path is VERY interesting.............hits Pensacola, makes a U turn like it missed it's intended target the first time (N.O.).....................hmmmmmmm

I think you may be on to something here. Maybe that missing Atlantis magnet thing is buried at New Orleans. Look at the purple line in this outlook:

Wow....the purple on is bound and determined to get to N.O. at any cost.  Now, for the orange track..........if that happens, well, just revert to the posts about Gustav!
