Last summer, a friend of mine was bitten by a rattle snake. he had to be airlifed to the nearest hospltal to get an anti venom shot. my question is. Why dont more medics on the fire line carry it? i  think it would be more convienent and handy if we did.

i'm not familiar with syrums ... BUT, could they be regulated?  are they a controlled substance?  does the syrum have an expiration date?  do you have to take a special course to administer?  how is it stored (fridge, etc) and is it temperature regulated?

LEAVE BRITTANY SPEARS ALONE, RIGHT NOW!!... I MEAN IT

It would be a good idea...except...anit venum has to be administered in a controlled enviroment..due to possible shock sytems and anti venum needs to be kept cool.

I think that it is probably easier to avoid rattlers than to carry anti-venom in my line gear.  Maybe a snake bite kit is a start.  Possibly an EPI pen.  Just a thought.  Good Tread!

My understanding of it is get it right, you live. Pick the wrong anti-venom and you die. I wouldn't want to have to make that............

As soon as an EMS Rule is accepted as absolute, an exception to that Rule will immediately occur.
Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics.
