Well, this is a thread for pretty much anything. You know how sometimes you see something and you just have to post about it, but there's no topic for it? Well, this is a general catch-all thread.

And for starters.....

We make missle parts at Unicast, as well as helicopter parts, jet parts, and gun parts for Ruger. So we have a Foundry. I worked in the foundry this week. For safety gear we have proximity style ( Aluminized ) equipment. I spent the better part of the week in a pair of shiney, a**less chaps. It is such a weird feeling.... I def would NOT have cut it as a cowboy.

I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight with that mental picture in my head now thank you...:-) A**less chaps, I hope you had something on under them... maybe you could be a biker instead of a cowboy...

Sadly I've yet to see him in the above said "a**less chaps." I know of their existence, I've SEEN them, but I have not had the pleasure of seeing him in just those.

Furthermore, Silver passed the "Boyfriend Test" on Comcast's On Demand's Boyfriend Test thing. What the heck >_>

I don't mind snow, but.. well, nine feet of it?? hopefully this storm wont hit here... as a DoD contractor we don't get snow days, but I think they may make an exception for this

http://www6.comcast.net

(look for the CA gets nine feet of snow video)

I wish it would snow here, I want a snow day. But subcontractors for DoD contractors don't get them either. Plus, you'd freeze with your chaps on.

Aren't all chaps a**less? Otherwise they'd be pants......

I love snow. . . . . for about 3 days max, then it gets old. I would, just once, like to have a 6-12" snowfall that started Christmas Eve afternoon, and wake up Christmas morning to a white Christmas, but unfortunately, in Central Texas, we rarely get more than 2-4", and usually in Jan-Feb. We tend to get ice almost every year though, which is just such a frickin blast for calls and driving around here!

Not to change the subject, but here is a random little goody I just got sent to me. All sorts of MS downloads you can add to your XP load. Check it out.

Erm, I have decided I will wear bunker pants instead of the chaps at work. It has been discovered that if you wear them according to the manual, they leave an exposed area, about two inches wide, in the front......... I want that covered at all times I'm working with molten aluminum.

On to other news, Found a great trick today. My boss has one of those "uppity" SUVs with the back up range sensors and all. Found out that if you sneak up on him and slap a bit of snow over one of the sensors it will start going off inside " warning, move vehicle forward, rear impact imminent. Please pull forward, impact imminent"

I might have forgotten to tell him that I did it though, when he left he was talking about needing to take it in for servicing, and see if the dealership can fix it...

Ick! Messy XP/PC stuff! :)))) But thanks anyway! I drink my beer with my pinkie in the air and I do my computing and conversationalizing online with a Mac.

For those of you having trouble visualizing this: Beer in one hand, pinkie on the other held up in the air. When you are a sophisticated Mac user like me, you are expected to look the part.

So, me and the better half got a new TV today... Sony Bravia. It's not the 45+ inch like I was thinking, but she was right, a 26" works just fine for our place, and Sunday the leather couch gets delivered ( First time I've hung out with our Captain since they forced him to go to another station, and I'm going to steal his couch.

It's actually starting to look like people live here now. Oh well, off to get ready for bed, more later

Butts... Captain Butts. Hehehe. Name makes me giggle. The other half decided he wanted a BIG TV but if we had a bigger TV... we'd probably have to shimmy around it just to get to the bathroom so that wouldn't work.

This is why I need an extra set of turnout pants, these things leave TOO much uncovered up front to be comfortable working with liquid metals

I was fearing "The Chaps", or is this them? I see what you mean. No jewel protection. That's crazy.

Yeah, that's why I'm desperately hunting an extra set of turnouts, that opening is VERY uncomfortable... I don't like being able to feel the radiant heat from the metal. usually our protective gear is those chaps, a Nomex shirt (similar to Forestry gear, long sleeved), Kevlar arm guards, leather work gloves worn inside Kevlar insulated mittens (with elbow length sleeves), with a pair of uninsulated Kevlar mittens ( short) over the insulated pair. Also a pair of safety glasses, plastic face shield, and a hard hat.... thinking I should get a second helmet, rather than having two different pieces of safety gear, at least then it would only be one

When it gets burned off I assure you there'll be one very long very profanity ridden post on here by me. Then you all can gasp and we'll set up memorial services :)

I find it VERY disturbing that she is already planning for this... I'm not THAT accident prone.

Though we did have a second fire at the plant today. This one was, well, no ones fault, they were just cooking too many pieces in the oven.

I'm convinced my plant is run by idiots.
