Heh I was just wondering about how old is to old for the academy. My belief is that you should never give up especially since I am 38 years old but wanted to see how others felt.

You will be too old when YOU give up. Go for it and don't look back.

My 19 yo son is just finishing Probie school this month. He has a guy in his class that is 51. They use the C-Pat course daily for PT. This 51yo keeps up with the rest.

I graduated last year from the Fire Academy at 36 and there was one recruit at 42...sure we had to work a little harder but we never quit and never even came close to being at the back of the pack for anything...GO FO IT

You're only as old as you want to be. Join fire dept at 42, completed recruit class- out of 24, 4 of us female, 12 of us completed physical agility in under the 10 minutes, I was the only female at 7.35 and 1 girl at 14min her age 21. There were guys that didn't finish and young also. So I say your never to old if it's something you want to do and willing to work to achieve it!

same as everyone else has said....you're only as old as you feel.  If you're in good enough shape...there's no reason why you can't go for it!  Enjoy, and be safe!

Always remember, you are never too old to compete with the younger ones.  Just because you may have age does not mean that you do not have the strength and drive to accomplish your goal no matter what age you are.  Keep going forward and never look back.
