Introduction to Ask a Dispatcher and 911Lifeline
| back to top |
Posted about 1 year ago I am the founder and administrator of 911Lifeline. We are a national membership organization serving 9-1-1 telecommunicators, and related public safety professionals. We have partnered with FireLink to create the “Ask a Dispatcher” forum. PoliceLink’s interest in inviting 911Lifeline to be a partner, was to give the law enforcement community access to the dispatch professionals they interact with every day. The critical relationship between the firefighter and the dispatcher is not always harmonious. This results most frequently from a mutual misunderstanding of the responsibilities, procedures, and operations of the two sides of the microphone. It is the goal of the 911Lifeline participants to bridge this gap. We want to promote an open dialog from which we may learn from each other. Several of our highly experienced members have volunteered to monitor the forum on a regular basis. They are here to answer your questions, provide information, and to offer explanations regarding the 9-1-1 system, its various components, and the people who make it work. As representatives of the 9-1-1 community, we welcome this opportunity to share our world with that of the fire service members of FireLink.
